Quote from the FAQ:

---------------------------
Stay on-topic to each specific board/post and discuss Third Generation (1982-1992) F-Bodies (Camaros and Firebirds) only.
---------------------------

Grocery getters, even those with TPI, aren't third gens.

You can use either the 7165 which is the earlier 86-89 MAF setup, or you can use a 90-92 7730, which is map, it mainly depends on your harness but you can also repin them. What all do you have that you are working with ?

Yes the ultimate hot rod project of all time...the 1986 Grand Prix with a V8...

Playing this game, my neighbor's old '87 Beretta is "does relate to a third gen camaro" also.

Yes you could use a "painless" harness if you dont already have a stock harness, and cant get your hands on one reasonably, though a stock harness may be more useful to you since the "painless" ones are kinda stripped down and free of any of the a/c wiring, its your call, if you do get one i'd suggest getting the "extra length" model.

OK, it's somewhere between grocery-getter and "one of the top hotrod projects of all time".

That g-body part is where you departed with the guidelines that have kept the signal:noise ratio here so favorable over the years. Boards trying to be all things to all people haven't done as well as this place.

Coming to thirdgen.org to make fun of thirdgens wouldn't be very productive.

Cant just leave an honest guy looking for some info be huh ?

I'd suspect he came here knowing that since the tpi setup was quite common in thirdgens, that those of us with thirdgens would be his best source for info. Though he may not be putting his specific setup into a thirdgen, there is quite a possibility that info shared in this post may help someone doing the swap into a thirdgen. Really now what did you help by giving him crap about the setup not going into a thirdgen ?

Hey Mikey I am doing this same swap in an 86 Grand Prix with the TPI out of my Formula. I have found a lot of useful information about G body wiring at www.montecarloss.com. Several people on that site have done similiar swaps. I hope this helps.

I try to be lenient about these things (after all, my main racer is a '57 Bel Air with a 396). What I have heard from the Admins is the topic needs to be, at a minimum, "3rd gen related".

Swapping a TPI into a non-TPI 3rd gen, such as one originally carb'd, falls into the same catagory. If the information presented can relate to that, then the thread lives. If you insist on making a big deal about it being an '86 Grand Prix, it dies.

For the non-mods making a big deal out of it, there is a "Report this post" function available. Please use that rather than pick a fight on the Board.

Any further clarification needed?

BTW, PM and email are good ways to exchange non-3rd gen info. The buttons are below each post.
