Thats the oil pan I'm using. It hangs about even with the stock k-member or slightly higher.

Re: Moroso 6 Qt. Oil Pan
Old topic but..
Do I need to buy Moroso Oil Pickup? Its under required parts at Summit,
but I have already bought Melling oil pickup..?
Also the Windage tray..? Should I buy it..? Or can I reuse my stock one (if there is any) ?

Re: Moroso 6 Qt. Oil Pan
The oil pan pickup needs to be about 3/8" off the bottom of the pan. If you get a deeper pan, you need a longer pickup to reach to the bottom. No sense having more oil in the pan if you can't use it all. At high rpm like at the end of the dragstrip, all the oil can be in the top of the engine.
However, most street vehicles don't need more oil than what a stock pan supplies.
The biggest reason to use an extra capacity pan is to move the oil away from the crankshaft. You put a 6 quart pan on and fill it with 5 quarts. Remark the full level on the dipstick and only run 5 quarts. All that oil now sits in the sump instead of the entire length of the pan which can be whipped up by the crankshaft.

Re: Moroso 6 Qt. Oil Pan
I don't bother with a windage tray. I just keep my oil low in the sump away from the crankshaft. I run a 7 quart on my BBC but have less than 6 quarts in it. If for any reason the pan starts to get sucked dry, I have a 3 quart accumulator as a backup oil supply until the oil can drain back down into the pan.
