305'ers out there - I need your help!
Hey all -
I have an '88 that I bought with no engine/tranny.
I'm beginning my non-TBI, non-smog, 383 build to drop in, and ran across something I hadn't thought about:
On what side of the car (driver/passenger) was the original dipstick?
Better yet - does anyone have decent pictures of their 305 TBI engine compartment that I can look at?
Thanks in advance!
J

Thanks, joneboy!
Follow up question:
What (if any) is the requirement for it being on the passenger side?
That was the other reason it would be nice to see pics of someone's engine compartment...
Thanks, all!

OK - sounds like "headers" is the right answer...
Given that - can I use a driver-side dipstick block?
I'll probably be using these Summit Racing headers.
Thanks in advance...

My 350 has the stick on the drivers side - no problem with my headers - the only thing is you need a matching oil pan.

your building a 383, then going to restrict the crap out of it by using those junky 1.5" primary 2.5" collector headers? jeez, if you gotta use shorties, at LEAST use the hooker 2055's and give it some 1 5/8" headers. other wise, bite the bullet and either get a set of hooker or hedman longtube headers and run dual exhaust...

Swaping engines form a 305 to a350 or 383 would be a definite good idea.
You would get more power with little hassle.
I would also suggest getting the 700R4 transmission, it has much better shift quality than the TH200.

I am running hedman LT's with a drivers side dipstick, I do have to remove the dipstick to pull the header out while the engine is still in the car.
