i have a 85 trans am with a 305 tpi and when it goes i want to swap it for a new 350 crate possibly thats close to stock 350 5.7, in power and setup. i also want to swap the tpi from the 305 onto the new 350 and supercharge it all. my question, does anyone know where to find, or which motor to use for the 350 im open for any sugestions.

He's wondering what 350 crate to buy.

For this part, "i want to swap it for a new 350 crate possibly thats close to stock 350 5.7, in power and setup. i also want to swap the tpi from the 305 onto the new 350...", the answer is "Goodwrench 350", probably the 290 horse version.

When you add "...and supercharge it all", that completely changes the equation. You're not going to do that with a 350 that is "close to stock 350 5.7 in power". You build/select the engine for the supercharging. You don't worry about the stock power. And, the Goodwrench 350 isn't the right crate anymore.

I don't know of any GM crate that would fit the bill. That most likely means a custom-built engine with forged internals and a cam that's friendly to both TPI and supercharging - not an easy task. All told, it's going to be a very expensive longblock.

You probably didn't want to hear any of this, but reality bites.

I also wanted to do this, but NOT s/c. I also want to replace the tpi setup with an updated fuel injection system, are there any recommendations?

Another thing, say I wanted to put a cam in the 350 after I did full intake/exhaust.. would that become a problem?

five7kid<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_2846683", true); </SCRIPT> thanks a lot. actually thats waht i already knew i just wanted to hear another opinion. But take a look at this site, this charger was designed to work with stock 305 and 350 tpi engines and its also only boosting 6-8psi. now for the price that they want it probably wont be cost effective, you probably could do simple add ons to that 350tpi to gain extra 100hp, but just check it out.
