ok need swap help... 400/t5

ok got a 87 t5 car... 153 tooth 10 inch clutch flywheel.

putting in a 74-80 400 sb. I need a manual flywheel that will fit my clutch and trans but work on that engine.

really dotn want to buy a centerforce, so id like to find something that wouldnt break the bank since the t5 will break then maybe by then ill have a t56...

any help where to get one

thanks

Sooo...the only critical info missing here is whether it is a stock externally balanced 400, or has it been internally balanced? And good choice - you'll never be able to break a T-56 with a 400, what - with that extra gear and all.

-Transmissions and Drivetrain??

it is externally balanced.

what about this 400 balance plate im seeing in places? allows the use of a 350 flywheel (which is readily available in my clutch size) on a externally balanced 400

would this work?

I've never seen one, but I hear they have them. If so, that would be the cheapest option. Then you'd be able to use everything off your old setup.

so you are saying the balancer plate would be the easiest/cheapest route to go?

anyone heard of these, pros/cons maybe? if its just bolt on, and bolt your 350 flywheel to it, then it cant be that bad

also, what flywheel are you running or is yours internally balanced?

I have used them with 400's and 454's,never had a bit of trouble.Should be your simplest and most affordable option.

just use regular flywheel bolts, and they have the dowel hole. You'd have to attempt to put it on wrong.
