Just wanted to post a pic of the 496

It is finally in the car with headers all fitted . I still need to fix that wiring(fire hazard) and clean up the engine compartment. The engine had been in the car without headers for about 2-3 weeks(maybe more) . I wish I could go with a stock hood.

Looks great.I was just wondering what your combo was and how much power you think you are putting out.I am hoping on building a mild 496 in the future.

Clean up the engine compartment! Why! It looks great. I hate seeing show quality engine compartments. It looks like they're afraid to start the engine in case it gets dirty. The outside could be spotless but the mechanics of the car should at least show that it's used.

I totally agree.Like all the rich yuppies with there new sports cars getting washed everweekend at the local car wash.I used to work at one when I was a kid and you would not believe how much money the same people would spend every week to get their cars detailed and waxed.70+ easy. Its silly but I guess they are helping to stimulate the economy by wasting their money.

Thanks guys. and I agree , this engine needs to be started up .We are trying to locate a power steering bracket . I am not the type that puts alot of emphasis of show quality looks. Don't get me wrong I do take a nice looking engine to the track but am more concerned with going fast and having fun. AS far as how much power I think it 's going to be putting out. DD2k is saying 630 hp at 6k and 640tq at 4500rpms. I don't feel that's right and I wouldn't trust DD2k anyways. I will dyno the engine about 2-3 wks after startup. I need to get a little bit more info on the shop here locally.
I will post the specs a little bit later on.
edited the hp and torque numbers . I put in the numbers from a different cam prophile the first time.

This won't be a daily driver . Now I am not kidding myself with the 700r4 and am planning for a Th400 with a transbrake. Also in the plans is a 12 bolt rear from strangeengineering.

Engine Pics

Heres a couple of pics of the last engines in my T/A before I traded for it the first is the 468 with a tunnel ram and 2 750 dominator carbs then the Blower motor 496/6-71.. it will be getting a fairly plain 408ci BBC with an 800 Dp and a plate... I aint rich LOL..And mine will be driven often if not daily the engine combo was good for 14-15 MPG in my old car with a simmilar drivetrain ...
