305TBI to 350TBI
305TBI to 350TBI
Hey all. I'm new to the board and just wanted to sound off on the completion of my 1989 Camaro RS vert 305tbi to 350tbi project. I purchased the RS and immediately had a 350tbi swapped out in place of the 305tbi. I then brought it over to Hotchkis in Santa Fe Springs, CA for springs, tokico Shocks, LCA's, Panhard bar and Sway Bar Installation.
Next the RS was brought to Superior Automotive in Anaheim CA, for installation of Cam, intake manifold and exhaust headers.
The car dyno'd at 199 rwhp and 290 foot pound of torque. Next, up is gears and heads!

Hey, i'm new here also and was thinking of doing the same swap. Were you satisfied with the power increase over the 305? How hard was the swap itself? Thanks for any help. Good luck on your project and if you could please keep me updated on it that'd be great, thanks again.

That seems a little low for a 350?! What heads are on it right now?
Sounds like a pretty sweet car tho!!!

Re: 305TBI to 350TBI
I am pretty satisfied with the results. I live in CA so I didn't really want to risk going over board trying to get power out of the car due to our smog requirements. I'm using stock heads at the moment. I'm contemplating having Superior Automotive do my heads for me but that might be some time from now as I'm ok with the power output. Though I'm sure there is more power hiding there with the right fine tuning.

Re: 305TBI to 350TBI
thier is no comparison between the 305 and the 350. i also did the swap my self and dam im still grinning and i have a stock motor no crazy cam or done up heads.
hmmmmm its true what they say about tbi that they make a hell of alot of torque but its harder to squeeze out horse power.

I initially wanted to go from a 305tbi to a 350TPI but found that going with TBI was much more economical. I decided to use Edelbrock Cam, intake manifold and headers to err on the side of caution here in California. The car takes off pretty good off the line and it has enough power for me at the moment. I was afraid of using any arts that didn't have a C.A.R.B sticker.
Can anyone else post 350TBI dyno numbers and mods?
