You could use the transmission out of the truck, but not the same transmission in the car now. The bellhousing on the V6 transmission is different than the bellhousing on a V8 transmission, so that needs to change. However, the transmission out of the truck would not have the torque arm mounting provision, but that's a simple matter of unbolting the tailshaft housing from each and putting the Camaro tailshaft housing on the truck transmission.

The computer and wiring harness for the V6 will not run the V8, so that would either need to come from the truck, or from another 3rd gen of like induction type (TBI).

I highly recommend changing the front springs to V8 type, as the V6 springs will bottom out when you add the weight of the V8. But, some people do okay without that change, especially those who take out the air conditioning and do other lightening things.

The bellhousing is part of the case. They can't be taken off and put on a different transmission. You need a V8 transmission. If you're talking about an automatic transmission, that is.

If manual, almost the same story, except the V6 manual transmission has a different input shaft, and putting it on a V8 takes a little more innovation. It is also pretty weak, so using it behind a V8 isn't recommended.
