350 H.O Crate Engine
Anyone know what the cost generally is with all the parts needed to make it run? I've seen prices from $2000-5000, but I'm wondering what is missing from the $2000 pkg!
I'm planning out a swap so I could use all the info I can get. Especially on prices! Thanks!!!!

The ~$2k version is a bare longblock - block, crank, rods, pistons, rings, bearings, cam, oil pump, oil pan, and valve covers. What you'd need to add to it depends upon what induction and ignition you either have or plan on running.
$5000 doesn't sound right at all. Way too high.

Five grand, good grief! I paid less than four for the 350 HO Deluxe, which is pretty much a turn-key swap.

I'm just trying to figure out what this would cost or get an average of what it should cost. I'd be swapping the 350 HO into a 85-87 Iroc or z28 with auto trans. So If I get the bare longblock what other parts do I need? Also, does "turn key" mean that it comes with everything need to just swap in and go? Thanks guys

Thats really what im looking to do is swap a carb motor into a carb car which would be an 85-87 305 (i believe). I just don't wanna get over my head here. Everything I'm reading about the motor is great and I'd love to get it, I'm just trying to figure out the price of everything I need to get it in and running and ready to go. Being 21 I'm on a limited budget and as of right now I have about $2800 to play with.

The following link will give you a good idea of what you'll need to fire the 290 and the 330 versions. To me the price difference for the HO Deluxe was worth the turn-key aspect--the motor was equipped with everything from plugs and plug wires, to an oil filter, to the air filter, flex plate, dip stick and so on. i suspect that by the time you gather all the parts for the 290 or the 330, you'll be fairly close to the cost of the HO Deluxe. I think the Deluxe is a bang for the buck. Compared to my modded LG4, the Deluxe is a rocket ship.

"Turn key" will be more trouble to put in than the basic long block retaining the stock carb system.
The HO base engine, Vortec Performer intake p/n 2116 ($170), Fel Pro intake gasket set 1255 ($20), headers (price varies with quality, why not got for the best Hooker 2055HKR, $430), the rest of the exhaust (~$300-$700, depending upon what you do), and figure another couple hundred for miscellany, you'll have a "rocket". $300-$600 for a better converter, even more of a rocket.
Of course, a 305 with cam, headers, and intake/air cleaner will feel like a rocket compared to a stock LG4.
