'86 350 tpi swap into '92 RS? (posssible?)
'86 350 tpi swap into '92 RS? (posssible?)
Frist question is will a '86 corvette tpi 350 hook right up in my '92 RS (305 tbi)? Or is there a difference between the mounts and such from the vette to the camaro?
Opinions of the possible engine:
Bored 20 over
Turned crank
Milled heads (just to ture fit)
NEW - Comp Cam kit #12-256-4 Intake - .449 Exhaust - .456
NEW - Comp timing chain
NEW - Accel 24lb injectors
NEW Painless Engine harness
NEW Harmonic Dampener
NEW Ring Gear
NEW Oil Pump
Balanced front to back
DME – Stock
NEW Painless Engine harness
Engine assembled with new ARP bolts

Finally, what else would be needed for the swap? I know I will need a fuel pump, ECM, and wiring harness but is there anything else? I could not find a really good thread on this, only threads with 2 post of so on them.
thanx

the painless harness isnt gonna have all the connections to run perfect in a camaro
you should look for a camaro tpi harness
fuel pump is a must plan on that taking about 4-6 hours and make sure you have almost ran the tank dry
you will also need the tpi batt cables to do it correctly but you can just cut and patch
a service manual will help you a lot
you will have to use your stock engine brackets and the
vette exhaust mainifolds will not work you will need headers made for an 85-92 f-body with angle plug heads
but that engine is basicly a ZZ4 with a tpi on top with minor differances

I've heard (no direct experience) that the Vette oil pan and oil pump pick-up need to be changed to Camaro-like (aka - "standard SBC) stuff. I believe the same is true of the accessory brackets (but not completely sure).
Agree on the harness and fuel pump. Get a Camaro harness, and put in a good pump.
Note that the EGR is fed from an external tube running from the exhaust manifold. If functioning EGR is an issue for you, you'll need to address that somehow since, as noted, the Vette exhaust manifolds won't fit in a 3rd gen.
In your list of engine parts, what do you mean by "new ring gear"? Also not sure what "DME" is.
The pic looks like a stock damper. Are you replacing it with new?
I would stick with your LO3 distributor and coil. Small cap is much easier to work with, and will maintain connections (assuming you get an '87-'88 3rd gen harness).
