The marine motor will work, as far as that goes. The thing to check is the crank flange; your 87 car has the one-piece rear main seal design, and the other motor may have that or the 2-piece design. You might have to change out the flywheel or flexplate to the other style. As long as you get the same size of that, it should go right in.

It is definately reverse rotation. Meaning that if it has been run it will prolly need new main and rod bearings, Now check my logic here: If it was run in reverse rotation the bearings have beens seated for that direction, now wouldn't you need to replace them??? ANd what about the cam??? Wouldn't the grind be a little backward?? Just a thought. But other than that Marine motors are by far the highest quality motors out there. Think about it. A motor that is built to run at WOT all day long??? Hmmmm, sounds like a good motor to me.
Later,
Lars
BTW: Yes it will fit in perfect

Normally, reverse rotation motors were only used in boats with two engine. The torque from both engines going against themselves made it easier to steer. You should check the motor first, before ruling it out. Most of my engines were ex-marine engines and are even 4 bolt.

The motor in my boat (Merc F*rd 302) rotates the correct way, as do about 95% of all the boat motors I've worked on. Outdrive motors pretty much always rotate the usual way, in twin setups they just run one drive in "forward" and the other in "reverse" with different props to get that effect. The only systems that have opposite-rotating motors are inboard twins, and there are very few of those any more that use dinky motors like 350s. They're usually big blocks in the smaller boats and diesels in the rest.
