the 3.4 is a chevy v6 engine, used mostly in front wheel drive applications. I believe the engine was introduced in 1991, and its a bolt in replacement for the 2.8L, a common swap in s-10s. I believe it might have been used in fourthgens as the v6 engine.

You can get one from GM performance parts too. 2.8 turned into 3.1 in 1990 that turned into the 3.4 in 93 at least for fbody's. The 3.1 is still around for front drivers. The 2.8 stayed around for s-10's until the second generation(94- ). You can find them in the 93 to 95 camaro's&birds. In '95 they had both the 3.8 and the 3.4, so if you want a bolt in replacement for your 2.8/3.1 don't get one of those, be sure to get a 3.4.
also if that does not work is there any possible way to modify my transmission to work.
some of the mechanics I talked to said that the transmissions bolted up on vans, so why not camaros?

If you have a manual that may be possible, but I wouldn't put a 4.3 in, just go with a 305 if you were going to do that, the 4.3 will get about the same mileage, and uses the V8 tranny patttern, clutch probabaly, and flywheel probably, and probably same motor mounts. You see that engine is basically a 350 without 2 of the cylinders.
And yes the FWD monte's had them, but that doesn't help a RWD car.

For an easy bolt in, use a 2.8/3.1/3.4 these are all 60 degree blocks. The motor mounts and bellhousings will all matchup.
The 4.3 is a 90 degree block, like the 350. You will probably need new motormounts and definitly a new bellhousing to mount it up.

The 3.4 didnt' come around until long after the advent of fuel injection. you could find an old carb off an early 3rdgen 2.8, and that would slap right on to the 3.4, but it would also negate any gain of swapping. since the 3.4 and 2.8 are identicle, you can take the 3.4, strip it down to block, then strip your 2.8, and, being careful not to confuse them, since they are externally identical, put all your 2.8 peripherals on the 3.4, and then drop it in, hook everything up the way it was, and voila, you're done.

Why do you want to bore out the 2.8 block? By the time you get all the machine shop work done, and buy new parts, it would have probably been cheaper to buy a new GM 3.4.
i was just checking all my options.
so to keep my car carbed put everything from the 2.8 block onto the 3.4 . But how hard would it by to keep the fuel injection and put in the computer?

Have you tried the v6 board? I know people have done it, probably just need to get an adjustable regulator. I bet someone there has done it.
