2.8 to 305HO swap

I am swapping my 88 2.8v-6 for a 305HO, I know that I wont have the power of a 350 but I'm not looking for that much. I had my 2.8 tranny rebuilt last year and heard that it is possible to bolt the 2.8 tranny to a 305 engine. If anyone knows anymore about this or if any mods need to be done please let me know. Thanks.

I just swapped a 3.1 v6 for a 350 in my
91 RS. V6 Automatic transmission bell housing are different from V8 bell housing so it won't bolt up. If you do swap you'll have to get a V8 automatic tranny and drive shaft, the splines are different on the V6 tranny (assuming it's an automatic).
If you have a 5-speed standard
I believe it will bolt up.

The splines -are- different on the DS? I had heard they were the same; v6 vs v8.

If you've got a manual tranny, run a search on the boards for this swap. There is a lot of information out there already on it. Good luck
