A little advice/help needed. 92 GMC 4.3 to 5.7 swap.
I found a sweet 92 GMC 1500 pu. The body/interrior are in excellent condition.
It is a 5 speed 4x4 and they want 1500$
for it. It has a 4.3 in it and its blown. So the only logical way to go for a full size PU is a 350. Has anybody done one of these swaps in a late model truck? I did one in a 86 GMC but the FI went by by and lots of things needed to be converted, I heard that the late model trucks were eaiser to convert from 4.3 to 350 and all the wires/lines are the same, I would just need a computer, manifolds and possibly a larger TBI. Ive also heard that the current clutch and componets would bolt right onto a late model 350??
Any help would be apprciated
Not thirgen but I cant pass up this deal.

Thanks RS, I am hoping this could be an easy/ cheap job. What about the tbi though? Ive heard that some people are still using the 4.3 one with just pressure boosted. I think it could be used this engine " If I get the truck" wont be built up or anything, just a plain jain driver.
Thanks!

85 Camaro, 355/400 "drag car" in moth ***** 13.1@ 101mph on its last season run.
Plans: Possibly add N20 for next season.
82 Firebird, 305/350 currently being moth balled.
Current plans: Rebuild 305 with flat tops instead of the dished "cups" for pistons or slightly built 327 with the 58cc heads from the LG4, Upgrade the 2:73 to 3:73 or 3:42 and replace the turbo 350 with 700r4.

Hey, I'm not too sure about the '92s but I've got a '90 C/K 5.7L in my S-10 Blazer. I pretty much ended up using a 4.3L tbi (same as sbc, I think the pass. side injector is different if I remember correctly), and it's running on an ECM out of a '90 4.3L S-10 (#1227747) and the chip for the '90 5.7L. I had to change 3 or 4 wires at the ECM, and it fired right up. It really depends on what ECM you have. If you really want to do this, my advice is to get HELM electrical manuals (NOT haynes) for both trucks and just compare all circuits before the swap. As long as you know exactly what has to be done beforehand, just plop the V8 in, hook it all up & go cruise. Good luck

I got the truck sat morning and called gm about an hour later. The guy I talked to wasent sure about a few details either. I just know they now charge cores so It would just be im my intrest to rebuild a 350 and pop it in there. After closer inspection I noticed a rod indention in the oil pan on no.3 so the 4.3 is gone.
Low, how about the flywheel is it the same?
Or anythig elese you might have noticed?
Any Info before I get started on this project would be "VERY" apreciated!
Thanks!
