Re: heads

comepletely different motors; our cars came with first generation blocks, that 2004 is a 4th generation. only thing in common between the two is the amount of cylinders they have

'96-'99 light truck 350 heads, 062 or 906 castings. Flow well, but you do need a "Vortec" specific intake manifold for them.

That was stated in a magazine article years ago and is in the on-line edition of the article. However, it was later recanted in print, but never on-line, so it keeps getting repeated.

Either one is fine.

Re: heads

Thought this might be a good place to ask my question… I have 062 Vortec heads and I plan to put them on my 91 305 block up until earlier today I was sure that it would work, then I called to get a price to mill them down to the proper cc and was told that they won’t work because the 305 bore is too small, so I pulled out the gaskets and it looks like if I used 350 head gaskets it would be fine. Can anyone confirm? Any help is appreciated

Without milling them, you'll lose some compression, but reports are the improved flow and combustion chamber design more than make up for the loss of compression.
