1985 firebird v6 to carb 350

IM about to buy a 1985 firebird that had a v6 but the motor is not in it. I Have a 350 and a turbo 350 trans laying around that I want to put in. What would I have to do sense the v6 was the fuel injected model, and what about the fuel pump in the tank. I can get the car for $400 so do u guys think it is worth doing. and is there anything IM forgetting to do with it and if there is I hope u guys will help me out. THANKS

If you can't get this car for free, don't even consider doing it.

You'll need so many parts from a V8 car (not including the engine and transmission), it makes the most sense to get a V8 donor car. If you have emissions to worry about, this is even more true. And, the TH350 will NOT bolt into it - you'll need aftermarket parts, longer driveshaft and torque arm to do it.

Look over the posts on this forum, you'll see what I'm talking about. Although a lot of people have done it (self included), economically it makes a lot more sense to get a V8 car to put your 350 in.

FWIW, the TH350 is not a good choice for a daily driver. No overdrive or TCC makes for a lot of buzzing going down the road.

he didnt say there was anything wrong with the turbo 350. he said no overdrive or lockup torque convertor make for alot of buzzing going down the road, which is all true. now if its a drag car you dont really care about buzzing down the road? but for a daily driver...overdrive and tcc are nice to have.

see that little word up yonder...it says search. most likely your going to come across my name a few times asking the same questions about swapping to a V8.
its alot of time and money. i decided against the swap and sold the V6 car.

the guy who blew the V6 motor, my advice is if you cant find some fool to buy it, get a cheap 2.8 or 3.1 from the junkyard, drop it in, and then sell the car. its alot more feasible i think. but if you insist on doing the V8 conversion....
you need a V8 donor car.
you need:
exhaust
radiator
fuel pump and lines depending on induction
electrical wiring might need to be lengthened and if this is a FI V8 swap there is 1000 other things that have to be talked about.

you cant really say i wanna do a V6 to V8 swap....more specifics are required on what you have....and what your buying.

once again click the old search button up top

my RS used to be a 2.8,the swap was done to my car for around 750 all together...of course it is an olds trans/engine 350/307 but it didn't cost that much. you have alot of extra wires laying around the engine compartment, but i just didn't clean mine up. i'm thinking of changing from a 307 to a SBC 350 or a 454....just i don't have the money right now, i'm working on my 4th gen....but there isn't that much involved. the engine and the trans are the two main $$$ holes. i would suggest a different shifter though, mine slips between the gears. or it could just be mine.

To do a swap you have to want to do it just for the shear pleasure of doing so. Otherwise, it doesn't make economical sense. You will NEVER get decent money back out of when you sell.
