tpi/lt1/ls1 cold air intake idea
tell me what you think, i had this good idea after looking at my car. imagine first a car with the grfx off of a 90-92 camaro. then moce the battery to the back of the car and run a intake ofer to where the battery used to be and cut a large hole for the intake to run through and put the filter below the battery tray. then box it off to keep off water and somehow pull air in through the "fake" vent in front of the wheel. so that vent would be a intake scoop.
so what do you guys think?
oh and to top it out, the long intake tube would sound great pulling in that air!

You're chasing a snipe. First, that tiny scoop won't feed your stock 305 enough air. Second, there's no need to box off that area. The rest of your proposal is very much like what is commonly done to many vehicles. Stick the tube through the hole you cut in the tray, attach the K&N cone to that, and you're done under the car. The rest of your work is entirely under the hood from above. No worries about rain, just don't try to cross any floods.

What vent? You gonna pull your turn signals out & use that?
Just drop the filter down there & be done. I know of a local LS1 3rd gen that did that.

Check with Neil. I think he turned his scoops into brake cooling ducts. No reason they couldn't be used as intakes, although I think it might be kinda "pointless" to fab up the ductwork to do that, when it will function just fine without it.

I wouldn't worry about that design too much. If you are? Put a flat plate under it, to act as a plash shield. Problem solved.
