Oil pan question.

I have finished working the heads, and am ready to start bolting everything together. I still havent bought an oil pan though. I thought I read that the pan that came on the L83 wouldnt fit right in my 91 rs..is this true? If so, what pan would I use? I would like to get the heads, intake, oil pan, and such bolted on by this weekend.

I think that is correct.

You need a 2-piece rear main seal passenger side dipstick pan, '80-'85, non-Vette.

I think I have one from my '82 305.

Re: Oil pan question.

So I could use my 305 pan if I wanted to. I have been looking for a new one, but none of what I can find refer to it as a non vette pan. The pan that I pulled off the motor is a 2 pc, pass side dipstick pan. There must be something about it that doesnt clear, but I sure cant tell what it is.
