You can put the 350 in place of your 305.

The only real difference is the '86 is a 1-piece rear main seal, and the '85 is 2-piece rear main seal, meaning they take different types of flexplates. If the 350 flexplate is the same size (diameter, # of teeth) as the 305, then you're good to go.

That 350 probably has the 14", 168-tooth flexplate, but if it has a matching starter, you're probably still okay. Otherwise, you'll need to switch to the 12.75", 153-tooth version.
The '86-up versions have a different hole pattern for the crank, and they have a small weight welded on to them, on the side toward the engine.

The transmission should be a TH700R-4 like yours. If you use it, you will have to take the tailshaft housing off and put the one from your Berlinetta on it. That would be a good time to swap the speedometer drive gear as well so your speedometer will remain accurate (as it was).

If it is not a TH700, but something like a TH350, I'd pass on it.

But if it's from a 4WD pickup, the trans can't even go into your car.

Re: 305 carb to 350 carb berlinetta

well i know its not from a truck because he hadk it in a monte carlo before he switched for a 400 its most likely a 700r4. now im just trying to think which would be my best bet...shift kit on mine and install a better tcc mine as well while im down there or take his put a **** kit and worry about messing with the speedometer gear...

I wouldn't make the decision based on the speedometer gear. It's a piece of cake to switch over.
