swap my 305 tpi/auto trans, to 350/manual?

I have a 1989 trans am, 305 tpi, with auto trans. How hard would it be to swap for a 350 with a manual? does the body come with the mounting bracket for the clutch or will i have to make one?

Re: swap my 305 tpi/auto trans, to 350/manual?

Assuming you're talking about a T5, It's all a bolt-in with the exception of needing to cut your transmission tunnel and the hole in the firewall for the master cylinder. For a T56, if you get the right parts, it's mostly a bolt-in, but will require a new crossmember.

The clutch, brake & gas (or brake & gas for an auto) is all one assembly, so that's a bolt-in swap.

Do you have the transmission already, or are you just asking how to identify those transmissions?

5 speed automatic?

The stock automatic transmission was 4 speed, or you could say 3 speed plus overdrive.

Or, did you mean 5 speed manual? In your original post, you indicated you have an automatic transmission.
