Retrofit Roller Lifter

Hi guys,
I just got my set of roller lifter and I spent hours trying to instal them. This may sound stupid but, how do I install these?

Re: Retrofit Roller Lifter

They should just drop into the lifter bores with the alignment brace connecting to them facing inside the motor.

Re: Retrofit Roller Lifter

It seems like they need the perfet alignment. Those don't just drop in the lifter bores and it's a real pain in the ***!

Re: Retrofit Roller Lifter

Yes they're dry, but it's not for the final assembly. I'll have to disassemble the engine after. They're supposed to enter in their bore even if they're dry...

Re: Retrofit Roller Lifter

I soaked them in oil took them out after 5 hours, no change. Those are Howards Cam lifters. The first I insert go in very well but the second one just don't want to go in...

My comp set was a pita. I just had to look at it the right way and they would go in.

Re: Retrofit Roller Lifter

My thought would be make sure the lifters are parallel when dropping em in. Either that or just try a different couple. dunno.

Re: Retrofit Roller Lifter

I took some picture of them so you can see what I'm talking about. And even if they would enter the lifter bore, there's to much height difference between the lifter( much more than the cam lift)

Re: Retrofit Roller Lifter

Why are you trying to put big block lifters into a small block?

SBC link bars are shorter and don't have those 2 kinks in them. The lifter body itself is the same, only teh link bar is different.

Get the right lifters and they'll drop right in.
