'86 T/A 305 to 350
Hello everyone. I've been a member of these forums for a while, but I haven't been very active. Mostly I read about what everyone else is doing and get tons of advice. In the past, the biggest project I've tackled alone is changing the head gaskets on the 305 that came with the car. Well, this next one is by far even bigger for me, considering that I'm not a mechanic. I consider myself a tinkerer. Today my Christmas present from my wife arrived, and I began dismantling the 25 year old engine, which I'm sure has never been rebuilt, and by saturday I should be plugging in a shiny re-manufactured 350. I'm taking pics of the project, and if anyone is interested I can post them up.

You should always post up your pics if you are willing to show a thread about swapping your engine. You should know from all the research that you have done how much pictures add perspective to every little detail of the job.
Is this gonna fit under the hood? What intake/carb/cam combo are you running? It seems that most aftermarket intake and air cleaner combos hit the hood. Maybe you're keeping your stock air cleaner? We need details!
What are you doing with your old 305? I live in Lakeland and I need the heads and intake for a project hahahah. Just wondering...

Yes pics!! That's a hell of a woman you got there!!!
is this a 305 TPI to carb swap??
Like mentioned, you will want a drop base air cleaner if you want a 3" tall filter. A Vic Jr intake is the shortest good intake. A Performer is short also and makes more torque. A super victor or an rpm air gap is a bit taller. I fit an air gap rpm under a stock hood but it touched a little.

KrisW... I've got an Edelbrock 600 cfm carb that I'm transferring over from the 305 to the 350. The intake manifold is yet to be determined, but more than likely an Edelbrock Performer of some type. Air filter is an Edelbrock also, with a deep dish bottom. Used in this car, the stem screw for the wing nut put a little dent in the hood so I cut about ¼" off of it. You can't see the tiny dent unless you know where it is and you look for it. The build sheet lists the cam as INT. .300 and EXH. .307. The lifters are flat tappet. I hope that was the info you were looking for.
AutoRoc... this is a 305 carb to a 350 carb.
The thread i started for this is here: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...-350-swap.html
