Re: New to this need some help

Welcome! Lots of good threads out there on this already. If you use the search that should cover 95% of your questions.

You're going to need a 350 ECM (computer) and a harness for a V8. I assume you're wanting to go plain TPI setup not something like a LT1 or LS1. Your T5 won't work on a V8 without extra work and even then most people believe it's not the best idea to convert them.

3.1 to 5.0 swap:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...3-1-5-0-a.html

2.8 5 speed to a 350 swap:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...eed-2-8-a.html
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...5-2-8l-v6.html
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...sion-help.html

Also keep in mind there isn't much different in the intakes of 305 vs 350 (just injectors). In the late 80s they converted from a cold start injection type. In '90 they started using Speed Density vs MAF sensors.

Re: New to this need some help

Need to use different mounting area for the V8 vs the V6 on the K member.

Here check out this thread:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...swap-read.html

And here's a v6 to v8 swap story:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...son-v6-v8.html

Anything can be done with enough time and money. You've already bought a block and pistons so you're kinda limited by that now. They [LS1s] use a different engine design all together.

See this:

Re: New to this need some help

Anyways hope it works out for you. It'd be a real bitch to pull the 350 apart and find out it's already 30 over bored or something and the new pistons don't fit because of it.

Re: New to this need some help

sell what kit? LS1 is a totally different engine then a Gen1 350.

Find a t5 trans out of a v8. You also need to find v8 motor mounts, If your block doesnt have a serpentine system or v belt system your gonna need to find one also, your v6 stuff doesnt work with the v8.

You need to re-route your front brake line as they are in the way of the v8 motor mounts, so you mise well just put new ones in while you can.

The stock fuel pump should be enough as MPFI pumps alot out and our good pumps.

People will say you "HAVE" to change your front shocks to v8, i call BS. Yes the v8 weighs more then a v6 but i have done the swap twice and the car handled just fine driving on the road. Note i said driving, not racing

just a few things needed to be done, am old school, cant help much with the FI you want to run

Re: New to this need some help

The cars are all the same, v6, 5.0, 5.7. Only difference is v6 mounts are placed differently. You may need a v8 harness if your going tpi lilke others said but I have no clue

Re: New to this need some help

I have no idea but due to the fact it's going to be a different intake and have 2 more injectors it would be easier just to get the harness when you snag the 350 ecm. Check out ebay, most of the time you can get tpi, distributor, ecm, and harness as a packaged deal on there.

Where exactly did you get this block?

Re: New to this need some help

Not all that experienced but you might want domed pistons to lower the compression, i believe flat tops raise the compression, you would want to be 8:5:1 or 9 on compression to run boost.

Heard voodoo cams are great for making noise, but suck making power. Would concider calling up some companys, tell them what your plans are, and have them custom grind one

Re: New to this need some help

Not sure about those intakes, whatever head you choose ( I would think 195cc or better) make sure ot wont raise your compression too much.

2 bolt block should hold the power, unless your thinking 600+hp
