My 91 RS 400 bored .40 = 408 build!!!!
Hey guys! This is my 91RS build! This has been in the making for over 13yrs!! When I first got her she looked great with 0 defects. 2 months of having her she threw a rod so I put in a 355.
Trying to make a HORENDIOUS TRADEJIC story short when I decided to mod the 355 to H/C/I and convert to carb the engine builder screwed me sooooooo bad that the motor didnt last but 2800 miles not only that but the car was for the most part in and out the shop for 6yrs!!!! The motor caught on fire, shot flames out the carb, used t56 i bought was wack, needed rebuilding after 4 months etc etc
From rearend blowing twice, shitty 10bolt, then got the 9inch and the same shop installed the locker jacked up and locker screwed needing replacing after 5 months, a/c went out, over heated twice, converted from 700R4 to T56, sus mods etc etc I nvr got to drive her.
I bought AFR 190's, holley HP, moser 9inch 35 axels, detroit locker (which blew) got a spool, koni adj, all msd ing, McLeod clutch, air gap mani, eldb alum water pump, radiator etc etc etc.....the CAR NEVER RAN RIGHT AND NOR COULD IT BE DRIVIN FOR MORE THAN 6 DAYS WITHOUT WORK.......
So now after 6 years I Have rebuilt my TRUST and $$$ to get a 4 bolt 400 bored .40 making a 408, ported my 190cc's 2.02x1.60 to 2.08's and flow over 325cfm at .600 lift and 217cc intake, ferra values, Forged SRP 11:1 comp, forged H-beam rods, 8 qt oil pan moroso, custom Billet Solid Roller, Ported Vic Jr, new ram clutch, big 4 core rad, new flywheel, new bellhousing, new pro billet dis, rebuilt t56 ram 650 hp rating clutch, new spool, 4:10's, coated hooker super comps 1 3/4 cause I CANT GET 1 7/8 that fit a/c and PS
and crap tons more....My goal is to run high 10's one day on motor and 9's on the 200shot. of course its just dream for now..I'm hoping for the 550-575hp at flywheel and 525tq range....she weighs 3250 without me
Hell last time I drove her at the track was when she had a just the weak 355 with mid-lenght headers, ghetto non mendrel bent 3nch exh, t56 with 3:73's on street tires and ran a 14.2 at 96 in 2000......
She almost done except my 295/50/16 ET's arent coming in till Oct 1st, hopefully I start her before then.............................................. ......
Ive only had heartbreak and hundreds and hundreds of people telling me over they years to sell her and move on......but like many of u know, I couldnt bring myself to do it! It sadens me to see how bad she looks after sitting in and outside for over 13yrs.....hopefully once I get her broken in and after raping some mustangs I'll fell BETTER and drive her with a grin again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want it done right, youve gotta do it yourself. Its incredible how many dumba**s there are out there that call themselves mechanics.
nice car btw, i bet she looks great after a good wash.

Thats a Nice build up, I also have a 406 and I'm also using the SRP pistons set up for 6in rods, but it is much milder and streetable combo as a daily driver, but goodluck with it and keep us posted!
