Engine Swap Question

Hey everyone. I just bought a 350 Chevy Small Block 5.7 Liter engine to swap into my 1990 Pontiac Firebird. The question I have is, Will this engine bolt up to my stock transmission or do I need to get a different one?? Just get back to me as soon as possible. Thank You.

Any an all feedback will be appreciated.

Re: Engine Swap Question

Are you sure. Cause all the research I've done says other wise. I just found this website like 5 minutes ago (http://www.nastyz28.com/chevy-transm...tification.php). And this is what I found - THM700-R4 - 4 Speed transmission used in GM cars and light trucks with the 2.8, 3.1, 4.3, V6, Chevrolet built 305, 350 and 454 engines from 1982 to 1992. I'm thinking it will work no problem. i could be wrong but that's what I'm beginning to believe.

Re: Engine Swap Question

You may just need a different bellhousing. Someone ought to know this on here for sure.

Re: Engine Swap Question

the bell housing is part of the trans, not separable. 100% sure you need a 700r4 from a v8.

Not all Chevy V6's are the same.
2.8 and 3.1 are 60 degree V6's
4.3 V6 is 90 degree like a 350
