Rough estimate of combo??

350
2.02/1.60 valved heads (port/polished, new spring seats, springs to handle .550)
1.6 rr
.495/.495 roller cam
Edelbrock performer rpm
Hedman shorties
2.25"-3" exhaust

Any rough guesses on power? I have only spent

$400- motor
$75- heads with new springs/seats/valves(2.02/1.60)
$75- intake ( brand-new never used)
$80- headers (brand-new never used)
$25- roller rockers (brand-new never used)

I just need a cam now

Re: Rough estimate of combo??

They are gm heads. They are older heads, 67-75 I think. The cam spec was an idea, I don't really wanna go over a .500 lift if I can help it... Not looking for stupid, just looking for slightly stupid, lol

I don't think you can get too much over 400 HP with old GM heads, if that. I'm sure five7kid can be more useful than me here, but I see about 325-350 with a mild cam. Maybe more if you go with a hotter cam but its not going to be near as fun without some decent heads.

Re: Rough estimate of combo??

The guy I bought them from has a dyno sheet with these heads at 380hp, he got them off a track car... Then he had them ported polished... Yadayada. He spent 500$ in work on them, then found a set of aluminum heads with exactly the same specs, so he pulled them. They sat in his closet for about six months.... He sold them to make his wife happy, lol. I was wondering if what I have, plus a cam/rocker combo, would get me to 380? That is fine with me.... My magic number was 400 crank, give or take 10-20hp. If I hit 380 I'm fine with that.

Re: Rough estimate of combo??

It's a Vortec 350 shortblock? How many miles? What is the # on the heads? And how did you find some new RR's for only $25?

Re: Rough estimate of combo??

No it's an lo5 roller block, heads are casting 126, but with 500$ worth of work done to them (they were on a track car with a .550 lift), they have 160$ springs, new seats, 2.02/1.60 valves, and the roller rockers are from a guy that sold me a brand new never used performer rpm intake for $75.... He's selling all his sbc stuff and switching to BBC

Re: Rough estimate of combo??

We all have been sold on HP ratings for so long.Truth be known those peak HP ratings happen in RPM levels not normally used on street cars.Ask about torque.
