2.8 to 5.7
So finally after over a year of sitting, we finally hauled my 2.8L out of my 89 RS and began the tear down. I originally locked it up due to loss of oil and it has sat ever since. As we worked through the engine, massive amounts of sludge and decay were found. As it stands now, the upper and lower intake plus the valve covers are off. Finally, my grandfather who is an old school performance engine builder and got tired of all the wires and vacuum tubes decided to ditch the whole gas economy business and drop a 350 in it. I snapped a few pictures before the tear down process and a few more in progress. More updates and pictures to come!

Hey Tyler, i was wondering if your changing out your motor will you be getting rid of the parts off your 2.8 This is what i need, the throttle body and torx screws. Mine is fine for now but i stripped out one of the torx scews putting a TPS in and had to use a screw for now. But if your parting it out would like to know how much you would want for those parts? Thank you and congrats on the 5.7 that is a sweet motor! I had one in my old Iroc.

Im sorry Camarosrock, I'm gonna hold onto all my components just in case I manage to detonate this engine as well. It seems I have a talent for killing vehicles

We went ahead and tore the engine down to see what kind of damage I managed to do, but as I got greasier, I forgot to take more pictures, so I only have 3 more of the 2.8L. The ultimate cause of death was not loss of oil, but a clogged oil pump due to massive amounts of sludge. The 355 isnt slated to get pulled until this Sunday, so I'll have more then.

I stopped by and snapped a few pics of the body and engine just for some back ground context. We bought the engine in the truck and all I know about it is that its a 355, its been decked and its got some kind of aggressive cam in it.
