Re: first rebuild - 350sb 700r4 trans.

okay been awhile but i got the car finall home and started working on it last night. got the ac box out ( in like 5 parts ) but i have a few questions.

1. since my car had emission stuff on it and the person before dropped in the 350, they just left all the old wires and everything in the bay, well since none of the wires in the main harness going into the passenger side of the fender are connected to anything, can i just remove them all? they look like they go to the computer thats still in the dash, so i could just remove the computer and the wiring harness. it would only make sense that the computer would of ran the emission stuff.
heres a pic of what i mean

2. this harness

runs to the trans, since i have the trans rebuilt so it doesnt need to be run by the computer i can just elminate that as well right?

I wouldn't want to tell you to do something. But if it was me I would take the wires out. not cut them. And sell them to someone who may need or want them for there car. As for your paint choice. I'd go with semi-gloss black. I myself always wiked that better than flat. but its your car

Re: first rebuild - 350sb 700r4 trans.

You could always thin the wiring harness out and use only the essential wires from the ahrness, like I am doing for my bird.

My harness went from this:

To this:

Name: 2011-11-07_16-28-14_749.jpg
Views: 155
Size: 110.9 KB

Go through this thread to see the best way to thin out a third gens wiring harness and use only the wires that you need if your going without an ECM, etc..

Re: first rebuild - 350sb 700r4 trans.

Lol, no third gen is a piece of crap..

I didn't notice you posted, haha. I am not sure about the wiring for the AC, but I do see the power wire, ground, resistor pack, and relay which all need to be kept is you want AC, as well as the compressor line (with the resistor across it) and the wires from that starter to the blower housing.

I like the flat black, I also painted mine flat black:

What are your plans for the engine/accessories color? Doing any engine modifications, or just a stock rebuild?

Keep up the good work!!

Re: first rebuild - 350sb 700r4 trans.

yea im just getting rid of the ac since i really can live without it haha. thanks tho. i like the flat black as well but it seems to strach easy so i gotta be careful. well im going for a moderate build for the engine. just putting a nice comp cam in my 350. getting the heads shaved down 0.030 off the deck. intake, headers you know the normal. and the trans got a nice performance rebuild, got a screaming deal on as well. got a whle new housing full real build internal with performance goodies 2000 stall for 550$. just gotta get some 3.73s in the rear and ill be good for the summer. next year im planning on getting a full paint job. idk if i want it black or a nice silver hmm

Cool man, I gotta get some 3.73's for mine too. High lift cam, split duration and 3k stall, my 3.42s wont cut it! :P

I kinda like the red/silver theme your car has going on now, actually..

Re: first rebuild - 350sb 700r4 trans.

so its been some time since i posted an update on here, prob like a year but anyways the car is finally finsihed and im pretty happy with it as of rigth now.
I cant tell you how many stupid little things i ran into while trying to finish this pos. from having to modify the exhaust to not being able to find a v-belt for weeks, but its been all worth it in the end
so heres some pictures of how the rest went, i had more but they were on my other phone and it broke, go figure

finally getting the engine and trans in
