1989 RS, 305 TBI to 305 TPI
OK, so I finally decided to do something with my car. I found a 89 RS roller, which I'm looking to swap in my engine and trans into. It had a t5 and 305 TBI, and mine has a 700R4, and 305 TPI. What all do I need from my car? So far, we've come up with engine, trans, TPI harness and computer, and dash. Is there anything else I need from my car, and do I need to swap the dash?
thanks,
Andrew
thanks,
Andrew

Fuel pump, exhaust.
You shouldn't need to swap the dash. But, TBI has a VSS buffer that TPI doesn't have.

Also, how deep does the harness go? It looks like the injection harness is connected to the headlights, interior wiring, taillights, all of that stuff. How much of it do I need? And what's the best way of going about taking it out?
Thanks

ok, so then the dash doesn't need to be switched. thanks for the clarification.
already asked this, but am stuck here.... how deep does the harness go? It looks like the injection harness is connected to the headlights, interior wiring, taillights, all of that stuff. How much of it do I need for the swap? And what's the best way of going about taking it out?

This was the slow part for my swap. The chassis harness is integrated into the fuel injection harness. When I did this swap on my 92 RS I had to get out the wiring diagram and chase down all the points where the fuel injection harness ties into another harness, cut it, and mark it. Then when I put everything back together with the TPI harness I modified it so it did not tie into anything else. I have wiring diagrams for a 90-92 TPI car and I believe a TBI car too. I'll have to look at my wiring diagrams folder when I get home tho.
Whats the year of the engine/trans harness and I'll post what I have that is relevant.
