OP may have just gotten tired of having to defend his swap and listening to the bickering of what constitutes a swap. You can put a chevy engine into just about anything and its cool...but try to put something else into a chevy and lookout!

That's too bad. I'd like to see how this one turned out.

Re: 440 mopar engine swap into an 88 rs

A swap would constitute anything other than the original. If someone has a 5.0 305 TPI and he put another 305 in, that isn't a swap and I don't think that changing from EFI to carb on the same motor should be considered as a swap. I believe the main reason someone goes to a carb setup is because they don't understand or know enough to fix EFI.. There are also people that also just like carbs. A chevy 302 or a 5.4 or 5.7 would be a swap because it is something different. Even though people have put Ford or Chrysler or even a 2JZ motor in their car and someone doesn't approve.. The owner shouldn't care as it is their car and their own design, other people will find interest in it.. I hope he does go through with this and takes alot of pictures, as I know there are other people that have expressed interest in this or even possibly even thought about it themselves.

Really different/off-brand swaps like this tend to have one thing in common - you never see pics or vids of the finished product.
Anyone can start a project, but not evertone completes them. I an not a fan of cross breading, but I would like to see this 440 swap done and running.

Re: 440 mopar engine swap into an 88 rs

Is it done yet? I used to run a 440 dart street racer. 67 gts 383 with a 440 swap 3.92 gears Isky cam edelbrock 3x2 intake with 3 500 cfm Holley deuces and a 727 trans with b&m rebuild kit. Mallory ignition 15 btc and 30 degrees on the dist. It would launch hard enough to pull the wheels off. So I would like to know what one would do in a third gen

Go for it ! These engines provide a HUGE amount of torque . Be sure the rest of the car can handle it ! Plenty of Aftermarket heads , intakes , cams , cranks etc. available as well . You can go as far as 632 " if you wish (with the appropriate crankshaft / piston combo ) .B/E- body headers will probably be a close fit and you can use a turbo 350 or 400 with a J.B. Racing Trans bell housing / adapter (complete bellhousing is bolted to the trans - takes care of starter flywheel/flexplate issues ) or stick with the tried and true 727 torqueFlite. The stock rear member in the 3rd Gens are incredibly week by Mopar standards so a Forb 9" or better yet an aluminum Dana 60 is the way to go.

Best of Luck with the swap !

I would think strongly about different pistons and aluminum heads of your choice.. and to be REALLY different ,how about a 6pack intake to feed it?.

That`s an A833. 4 Spd trans . Were produced in latter years as an O.D. trans as well (late 70`s into the 80`s)

Yo! I know it's been 8 years since you've been active in the forums, but I'd like a update on this swap if possible!!! Sounds sick! I've been tempted to do the same thing and I'm just curious about how hard was it..? and if you actually finished it or not..
