Okay then, what are your plans for the engine/ car?
Is this a daily driver? A weekend Cruiser? A Drag Car? A road race car? etc....

just and occasional cruiser with plenty of power to play. I do not want to run race fuel want to stay at the pumps
Re: What heads to use
You can not take advertized SCR's from piston manufactures as what you have.
Was the block decked and what is the volume now??.
Stacked parts method will get you to the quench number which should be from .040 to .035.
compression/cam compatibility must be a consideration.
With what cam is the DCR
These things play a huge role in the question your are asking and a build plan.
With the various pump gas'es from the same sources by brand, but not the same in your area, the universal SCR with aluminum heads of 10.5 SCR and 8.5 DCR or cast iron heads of 9.5 or 8.5 DCR has to be maintained.
So don't assume anything, you have to know these answers for sure before you can go on.It is not a matter of what you can afford, more so what you need to make it work!!!.

Re: What heads to use
money not an issue the right set up is what im after. cam will match with weight tire size torque stall and gear ratio. so i will set heads up according to that. was just wondering if anyone had a preference on different heads.

AFR
Pro flier
Dart
can't go wrong with any of the big names.
Or you could just go with some aftermarket vortecs.

Re: What heads to use
The T/C flash stall is grossly effect by the output of the engine. So going back to what I am suggesting have to know for sure the answers to the questions I have posed is the starting point of maybe not brand name, but which set of heads.A horse before the cart approach.Example is you where to buy a 3000 stall T/C and not at the top of you game in the tune up where those questions where not know for sure being down abit on power, the T/C might not flash at 3000 RPM.
BTW-what I mean by tune up is the answers and cam and which heads-all of it.

Re: What heads to use
I made 389rwhp an 442rwtq with Vortecs.. It's not about what head to use for the 383. It's what intake are you going to use.
Here is a lil info to read what I have.

Re: What heads to use
Those pistons have a .100 dome! Do not use vortecs. Compression would be too high for iron heads. You need an aftermarket casting with 70-76cc chambers to have a chance at pump gas. Should be near 10 to 1 with a 76cc, mid 10's with a 70 or so.
Any name brand 195-200cc runner head and mild 224-ish cam, maybe up to 230 deg at .050" should make 450 crank hp. Rpm dual plane intake would be great
