You didn't look too hard, the sticky is right above the normal posts...
v6-v8-swap-read
Best advice? Buy a V8 to start with. LOTS of them still out there.

It didnt say anything about a V-8 bolting to the 2.8 transmission....Only what you need to change...........fuel lines, brake lines.....torqe arm...mounts I knew that....just making sure the 2.8 transmission will bolt to the 350 motor.. The car Im buying is in near perfect shape for 500 bucks...really clean in and out.nice paint and centerline champ 500 wheels that are hard to find..The 2.8 v-6 is junk...even when it was new..and he said it had problems anyways..There is alot of V-8 cars but most of them have been beat to death..

No the trans wont fit, the bellhousings are different between V6 and V8. It has been covered a lot, just gotta do some digging.

Re: 2.8 to 350 cant find a thread on this
i did an injected V6 to carbureted 305 swap in my Camaro... the hardest part of the whole swap was dropping the tank to remove the in tank fuel pump... i used a Caprice 700r4 with the tailshaft from the Camaro bolted to it, bought some motor mounts from NAPA and used a set of engine side clamshells from Dog knows what car i tore apart up to 20 years ago to get the engine bolted in... used the stock fuel lines to feed a stock replacement 86 Camaro 305 fuel pump, bought a set of Hedman long tube Hedders, used the engine front accessories that i got with the vortec heads i used, and got a new radiator and hoses from NAPA...
the actual swap was done in probably 20 hours total, with a good chunk of that being spent fighting that stupid gas tank out and back into the car...

One of the more popular V6 to V6 swaps is the 3.4. The V6 forum has details about that. You do need to switch over a couple of things from the 2.8, but it's a pretty good return for the work you have to do. The 2.8 really was a weak engine, both in power output and longevity.
