If you don't mind, I'm going to make this a sticky. Our existing BBC swap sticky has a bunch of problems, and if you're willing to post more info and answer questions, that would be a big help.

Re: How To Install A Big Block Chevy Engine Into A Third-Gen!

What oil pan did you use,, did you use short water pump,,, what distributer did you use,,, small cap type etc,, did the radiator have to be moved forward,, we cant run open headers on the street,,, has anyone ran a duel exhaust system on these cars,,i currently run full length headers and a full single 3 inch exhaust and had to cut and brace up the floor/frame brace on left side to get the pipe same both sides..

the big block zz454 is cheap out of the box,,is it worth the hassle of it all.

Re: How To Install A Big Block Chevy Engine Into A Third-Gen!

Just a quick question before I swap the motor. I have most everything I need for the swap but realized I forgot to get the power steering pump and was curious if anyone had been able to use their 305 power steering. Now this won’t be a permanent thing just something to get me by until I can afford a better pump.

Re: How To Install A Big Block Chevy Engine Into A Third-Gen!

Its the same pump, just get the pulleys lining up and use a quality sreaight edge like a long ruller or piece of square tube like scrap iron 1/2 inch tube

I have a 1984 Z28 with 454 bbc in it. I have a big cap HEI distributor in it. It has cast iron exhaust manifolds that bolt up to the stock 2 into 1 exhaust, the long water pump, aluminum radiator, mechanical fuel pump, and electric fan. Th400 and Moser 9" Ford rearend.

What is a good rear end that will fit a 8"-8.5" differential? I`m getting ready to put a 454 BBC in my 88 Camaro.

What kind of headers are a good fit for a 454 BBC swap on a 3rd gen Camaro?

Re: How To Install A Big Block Chevy Engine Into A Third-Gen!

Getting ready to put a 632 tall deck BBC in my 86 Camaro and was wondering if anyone has used RaceCraft K-members? Headers I will be using are 2-3/8 into a 4 inch collector, which is gonna be tight. Has anyone already done this and if so what lessons learned do you have for me as I plan on doing it myself.

a little over a grand but more if needed. It will be a full out drag car so not opposed to front fender exit headers.

Re: How To Install A Big Block Chevy Engine Into A Third-Gen!

Did a Larg CID Aluminum BBC install with Bolt in Parts. Not a Tall Deck. just 615cid solid mounts and did everything New (Yes everything)
it was bolt in. Had no Problems. drops in. some like front plates some like stock motor mounts I used solid.
I did AC delete. just Heater.
your going to need a aftermarket hood unless you get the New low profile intake.(Brodix I think) I made My own intake out of a old tunnel ram (cut it down) to look like the old school Pro stock for the 70s. sort of thing.
headers today $900 to $2500 Ball park. for good fitting working units.
trans Pick one? Th400 will bolt in without body mods.
Accessory Drive. like Headers. so many out there I run Power steering and alternator. simple.
GM should have installed the BBC.

I like the Dan Lemone's headers spendy and ya have to cut 2 holes. (easy).and $2300 to my door. not for everybody. but ya can get to all the plugs. and install takes 30 mins by your self with eng bolted in. Lotes of room for the big Block in the 3rd Gen Camaro. .Just Do It.

I'm looking at dropping a Gen 6 big block into my '83 Camaro. What oil pan are you guys using? Anyone know what pan will fit without cutting, grinding, or hammering
