LB9 to L98 swap
Hey all, I've searched around and I think I know most of what I need to know at this point but please correct me if I'm missing anything or am wrong
I have a 1987 IROC that has the LB9/700R4, I just recently purchased a L98 from a wrecked 1989 Corvette, also a 700R4 car
Sadly It does not appear that I can keep the serp drive due to where my components are on the engine, so V belts It will be.
I'm ditching the smog pump and related plumbing, I am keeping the EGR and am likely going with Dyno Don headers to keep it functional.
I believe I have to swap out the fuel rail, engine mounts, oil pan and pickup to make it fit. Probably the flexplate as well. I don't know how different that is
I got the ECM and ESC from the corvette. My biggest concern is the L98 has the large cap HEI setup and my car has the small cap HEI, can I just drop my distributor in and go?
I also assume I can't use the PROM from the Corvette. If not no big deal I already have a re-writeable PROM in my ECM its just a matter of building/burning the right calibration.
Thank you!

No one?
At this point the only headache I see is mounting the coil for my small cap HEI since I think it mounts right where the EGR tube is going to go.

Your right on the memcal not working without reprogramming out the vats and changing the fan switch type.
the hei divorced coil should work if you notch the lower bracket to clear the vette base casting bump.
There is enough room to run the coil in cap hei.

Strip the engine going in down to the long block. Do the same with the engine coming out. File or drill, slot the 4 center bolts of the intake base, bolt everything from the old engine onto the new one, away you go.
Once it's running right, I'd go back in later and change out the 305 injectors, knock sensor, knock module, and memcal to properly support the 350. The 305 stuff will run a 350 "OK", if not optimal. There's not much reason to risk creating more problems by exchanging a pile of stuff for junkyard hardware. You risk creating more headaches by trying to blend two setups than if you leave as much along as possible until it's up and running.
But that's just how I'd approach it.

Re: LB9 to L98 swap
I forgot all about the Corvettes getting VATS early, that would be a issue. I'm sure there are calibrations I can work with out there. I may just dump it and dump mine and transfer the fuel/spark tables and just build a bin file off that.
Glad to know I can use my ignition setup with minimal modification. I'm not opposed to large cap HEI, but I don't want to mess with the wiring to adapt it if I can get away with it.
I plan on keeping the Corvette intake manifold, namely because in order to run EGR I need it since the heads on this engine don't have provision.
I'll probably re-gasket the engine before it goes in the hole.
