305 tbi to 305 carb swap
305 tbi to 305 carb swap
Hi all, i have a running 305 with a head gasket leak. My friend gave me a complete 305 long block from his old truck.
The motor was rebuilt and runs great. The motor was pulled with all accessories and components. It is a carb set up. What i need to figure out is if i pull my motor and put that in what needs to be done so carb works other then a different fuel pump and sender. Thanks all

You don't necessarily need a different fuel pump. You could just put a bypass style regulator on the factory fuel lines and run switched 12v to the fuel pump relay. You will need an HEI distributor or some other standalone ignition, which can be wired to the factory ignition circuit. If it is an auto you will need a kickdown linkage for the trans. There is a ton of information on the forum about this if you do a quick look in the engine section, or a google search will give you a ton of info.

Why wouldn't you just repair the head gaskets ? It would be half the work and more budget friendly than trying to make something else work. Another option would be to switch over you old intake setup to the new engine.
