Holley 302-3 LS swap oil pan

Just dropped my freshly built LS into my 85, and found when I was looking at pans to buy there wasn’t a lot of pictures out there showing how much clearance the pan actually gives you. So now that the motor is in, here you go!
Close to 2” in the front, and pretty well level with the bottom.

Ground clearance

Pan to crossmember clearance

Good to see in a car. I think all three Holley pans should work in our chassis'

Re: Holley 302-3 LS swap oil pan

I should have just bit the bullet and bought a holley pan. The F-body pan works for most cases but its nice to have the flexibility to move the enigne around when you are dealing with aftermarket chassis parts like tubular K-members, trans cross members and engine mounts.

Re: Holley 302-3 LS swap oil pan

Absolutely. Between this pan and the UMI motor swap plates, it made dropping this engine in easier than a SBC. Straight drop it with no clearance issues whatsoever.

Also if the steep price of this pan makes you a bit reluctant to purchase, I just found out a week or two ago that a company named “top street performance” makes a pan almost identical for significantly cheaper. Oh well. 😂

Re: Holley 302-3 LS swap oil pan

If I am not mistaken, the transmission utilizes some of the bolt holes on the lower section of the oil pan. Does this pan have those holes as well?

Nope. The trans only bolts to the block. There are however some long bolts at the rear of the pan, but nothing connects the pan to the trans.

Uh, my T56 and my 4L80E both bolt to their respective factory pans (as do I believe the 4L60E for the LSx cars) and the aftermarket pan in my 92 Firebird also has provisions for the transmission to bolt to the pan.

Yes it does! The two bottom bolts for the bellhosing go into two holes on the oil pan.

looking at the Holley website, it looks like it has provisions for the transmission attachment points

Yup, I stand corrected. Just climbed under my car to verify as well.
