Moroso 20141 oil pan
my f-body pan cracked. we tried to weld it up, but it continued to crack, so i have to get another pan. the guys that have these used are insane, wanting $280+ for a used pan. eBay wants $360+ for a "kit". just not interested in spending that kind of money on a pan that is so easily damaged, and so tough to repair.
the moroso oil pan is $270. of course you have to buy their windage tray and pickup, and you have to use a remote mounted oil filter. but i don't know that i see all that as a bad deal. the pan is fab'ed steel sheet metal, which means even the guy with a coat hanger and some jumper cables could weld it back up if need be. AND, it's designed as a swap pan for 67-92 f-bodies.
what say ye? anyone have any experience with this pan?

Re: Moroso 20141 oil pan
Look on tech for some better deals with the pan. I was looking at one kit last night for $175
Ive read a few articles on tech about the moroso pan, none into a 3rd gen though. Only gripe was over clearance for strokers. A notch must be cut and a hump welded back for the #1,2 rods to clear with longer stroke engines
If you dont try one, I will for my GTA. Im sure to be smashing oil pans soon from wheel stands and thrown rods and a DIY fix-it pan is right up my alley

Looks like it may work, the moroso is only an inch taller than an F-body oil pan which shouldn't be a problem I wouldn't think. Here's the dimensions:

Re: Moroso 20141 oil pan
my thoughts exactly
this thread isn't so much about how much or how little i can find another fbody pan, but rather what you guys thought about this moroso pan, or if i should look at some other options. i don't like how tough the factory pans are to repair, and long story short, even at a "good" deal, they're high$$$ to replace
yes, i did address that issue in the original post

not entirely sure. looks like it may have got caught with a jack at some point...but this motor will tote tires, and i'm worried about hard landings.

Re: Moroso 20141 oil pan
Regardless of the pan you ultimately choose, why not fabricate something to protect the pan? Perhaps extending something from the k-member that sits below the pan to take the shock?

Re: Moroso 20141 oil pan
you mean a save your **** bar....most guys run them under their kmember so it'll get whacked instead of headers/oil pans. Also yes Matt f-body pans are rare, probably because there hasn't been one made in 8 years and the number of them is getting smaller and smaller. GMpartsdirect.com used to have them in stock brand new. I know a few guys running the moroso pans and they get pricey as well. Might as well step up to a dry sump now

Man, you got me spooked now, but i think my exhaust will absorb and impact after a hard launch but when i build my own trans crossmember and re route the exhaust i might have to do something.
