LT1 motor mount question
I was interested in doing an LT1 motor swap into a 90RS camaro. I've read that there is no modification needed to drop the motor in and bolt up. However I've also read that the motor mounts have to be moved back for proper alignment. Now I don't know if these two people were using different motor mounts or what, but if someone could shed light on the subject I would appreciate it.

it's not that easy, the motor passenger motor mount as to be modified, you have to make a special bracket to it to hold the ac compressor. and you also have to notch your cross member .

or if you don't car about the ac you could replace the compressor with the 1le deleat pulley, and drop the motor in on stock thirdgen mounts.

Both Matt and Kory are right. If you want to retain AC, do what Matt says. If you don't give two $hits about AC, then just replace the motors, nothing needs doing to the stock motor mounts. I ditched AC on my install and just installed onto stock mounts, everything bolts up like it's supposed to.

Thanks for the input guys. I've got the serpentine belt setup right now and was wondering if you can use the original 3rd gen setup and bolt it to the lt1 and avoid the motor mount dilema.

Bolting the 3rd gen accessories isnt an option, the crank pully is further out from the engine if I remember correctly, I realized this after hacking up a passenger side serp. bracket to get it to clear the water pump

So once I bolt on the 3rd gen setup, including crank pulley, they don't line up with eachother? correct. Is a different crank pulley an option? The reason I want to use the 3rd gen setup is because the lt1 I have was in a fire and the accessories are all toasty fried. Spending the money to replace everything isn't really cost effective.

Im quite sure it would be damn near impossible to get em to line up easily, dont remember which was further out, if it was the accessories the i guess a custom crank pulley can be made, i'd just find used acc's for sale, btw i've got an alternator and new p/s pump and even water pump if you need, sorry i sold the a/c pump already, but a 1LE idler to remove ac is only about 60 bux, email me if you're interested.
