2.8 died

My wife's 89 Firebird is a 2.8 and it is a dead duck and I am wondering if any of you guys that are doing swaps still have a 2.8 gathering dust in the garage?

try the V6 board, salvage yards, ......also consider dooing the 3.4 swap. You'll hear this from KED85. Also scroll down for my post on doing the swap. KED wrote it, very informative!

Car: '89 Firebird
Engine: 7.0L
Transmission: T56
Once upon a time my 2.8L died too in my '89 Firebird. Do what I did and use it as an excuse to mod the crap out of the car

WOW!

That makes me wonder about having my friend in Pahrump take it out there on his trailer, and letting him and his buddy go for a 350 setup on it.
I am sure they will have fun with it!
Now it's just a question of when! Hahahaha!
I don't think I would go big block on her car, but would like to change over to V8 from V6 and need a donor.....
Just thoughts going through my mind about it.
They might or might not have something to drop in. Have to get in touch again.

How about?

What about the HT 3.4 that Chevy offers for the S/10 2.8?
Will that work at all? Has anyone tried that particular motor?
I am very interested in putting that one in....
I would like to know because it seems to be a direct swap for the 2.8 S-10. Would it be the same for her Firebird?

re-read my second post the 3.4 swap has been done, & I'm planning on doing it myself.

I read that thread....

I read the 3.4 swap thread. I am wondering IF that particular motor will bolt in without any trouble at all! That was my only question.
Will it NOT have the differences? I guess I asked the question wrong or something!
I know the 3.1 will work and bolt everything on with no trouble.
Will it be the same with the particular S-10 engine I asked about?

Okay maybe I wasn't clear.

Here: this is the engine I am talking about.

That's not too bad for a V6 and for a bolt-in replacement, I would think it would be perfect for her car!

I hope so....

I don't have the $$ for it yet. I'm up to my eyeballs in my car right now. That motor will be a consideration in the near future.
If it bolts right in, the additional benefit of having a 160 HP V6 in there will keep my wife away from my car!
