need your exhaust opinions ...
i was wondering if it would be better to say get a flowmaster system or whatever from summit/jegs etc. or go to the local exhaust shop and get custom exhaust made up?
any benefits of either?
looking for the best "bang for your buck" type deal right now.
Thanks
Kyle

By the sounds of your stereo you plan on hearing your exhaust??LOL You could go with a hooker cat back, sounds great. But I think going out and buying a good muffler and having a shop put it on may still be the best way to go. Unless you install hedders and Y pipe.

some more questions
ive been looking on the net for the different systems.
i havent really found what i'm looking for tho..
my buddy just recently got duals on his olds, 2.25 back
said it cost him 300 for the custom job and thats cdn$
im just looking to replace the main pipe down along the driveshaft.
i was in the shop the other day getting my oil changed when i found the exhaust leak being on 3 of the corners of the passenger side hanger right after the axle. while inspecting it the thing snapped completely off.
my car has dual cats which got put back on about 2 years ago for the e-test, i plan on keeping these
so im looking for something to hook up to this and run back
but from what ive seen, for the system that isnt quite what i want and the price is up close to what my buddy paid for his but in us$ making it more up here for me.... ????
any furthers thots would be great!!!
thanks again

If you can find a way to make it sound deeper, I would try a flow. Not so much a 40 series, but something with more back pressure. You buy the muffler and go to a midas or something it should only run around $200, and that is guessing on the high side.

unfortunately i dont but in prepartion for headers i want i nice, i guess big block deep rumbly sound
i want my exhaust to give a massage-like quality
and yes i would like to hear the exhaust over the stereo as well
at times
thanks

Back pressure isn't always a good thing. but in a daily driver it helps with tourque. And remember this is a 6 cyl we are talking about. It may need the help. If he was going to the track, the less the better but he isn't.

Sorry I have been looking at four post and the other guy has a 6. But like I was saying, the common mistake is that nobody wants back pressure. Daily drivers need some. Sounds like you have had some work done to it but not alot. As far as the motor. My fav muffler I think would be more than you want to spend, 100 or so, it is a Ravin, but flows are cheap and hold up pretty good. Not to mention just about every stang has them. I might just have to this once side with mark
and say hooker might be your best bet. I now midas has good pipes that last a pretty long time, and I used to live in PA. Where you live it snows more than it shine I bet but they still aren't bad. You would get about 2-3 years if they have the same pipe my place did.

I like my Ravin system a lot. I like it just as much as Hooker. If I was in the situation to upgrade the stock exhaust system, I would definitely go with either Ravin or Hooker. Flowmaster is just way too common and I don't particularly like the sound anyway.

Well once you get a REAL cam you'll appreciate the sound of flows metalli. The system all together cost me $250 mark. I'm working on getting a clear sound clip. I know you'll love the lopey sound and VERY deep tone. I set car alarms off EVERWHERE I go. Whats great is its very loud at high rpms and very deep at low. best of both worlds. Especially with the H-pipe.

in my opinion, from my abstract upside-down point of view, the optimum performance can be achieved by massaging your brand new freaking hood so that it will accomodate your stock manifolds mounted upside down, coming through the hood with 5" exhaust pipe. don't forget the exhaust flap so rain won't get in the motor. Socrates says...a bananna will suffice!

$250 huh,
where were you over the summer when I was looking into exhaust setups, I'm really interested in duals with single flows. Did I just say that?

That is cool, but I don't like that there are no tips on both sides of the bumper. Gotta get some sound clips.
