emmisions test w/out cat??

emmisions test w/out cat??

would I have any hope at all to pass without a cat?
(car burns a little oil at startup and don't want to ruin a new cat)

Car: 1988 Trans Am

Engine: 305 TBI

Transmission: 5 spd

Axle/Gears: 10 bolt w/eaton posi 3.73

I took emissions last august with my old worn out cat on (pieces of it fell out when i took it off) and FAILED misereably. I bought a new cat and passed with no prob at all. I still have my old cat but its gutted now with some tubing through it.

Would burning a little oil hurt the CAT? I don't see how?
