I give up whats this?
Ok what is it? I have totally rewired my 92 bird
& converted the steering to r/h drive
but now I'm stumped.
What is this Thermo/temp? THING!.
It was located just behind the cat & I also don't know
what this black box is, the car runs fine but I am
still non the wiser.

Maybe it was a daytime running light module?

(Morley) Yeah the threaded end was into the pipe a few inches behind the cat & the wires ran under the car & up to the engine bay L/H side but not connected to any thing. I'm just asuming the module & wires connected to it as when I got the car it was totally stripped inside but the 2 wires from the module had tape on them that read "goes to black & red".
If its sometype of temp reading thing what do you need it for? & I guess how the hell do you read it & where do the wires go to?. Man I'm confused. The car was registered in RICE LAND before I got it so maybe it was a WOK cooking temp thing

Some people use the temp system to tune engines and some use them to tell where to put the X-over pipe in a dual exhaust set up.
Depending on the device used to read the thermocouple it may not have been wired into the car. The thermocouples are a bimetallic type made of alumel and cromel, when heated the metals generate a small electrical charge proporationate to the heat applied, which can easily be read by an analog meter that requires very little power to operate.
