Hedman Header question

I just purchased a set of Hedman Headers coated with Ceramic. I put a picture of them up as well. I keep hearing that after a few uses the ceramic coating which now looks silver is going to turn blue. Also I heard that there is something you can coat them with to prolong this... anyone know what that is??

It's chrome that turns blue with heat, not ceramic coating.

All the ceramic coated headers I've seen just lose the "new" luster.

Hey, those are really nice looking headers! Could I ask a favor? Would you mind taking a picture of the flange opening side, and the collector insides? Thanks!

Thanks, New Yorker!

Those Hedman headers are some of the best looking 3rd gen headers I have yet seen. Very impressive!

Thanks,

I got them from Summit... HED-68460-6 Chevrolet/Pontiac: 1982-92 283-400 Camaro/Firebird, 1 5/8 in. primary tubes, 3 in. collectors, ceramic coated,...

there is an extra zero added in there when you ask for them coated. I think it was HED-068460-6 for it...

If there is a problem let me know.

Guys, I have a couple questions on these. It says "Not for use with smog injection or injection heads" "Modification is required to the rotary A/C bracket." So would I be able to use these on an '87 Z28 305 TPI with all the air fittings? And what does it mean with the A/C bracket? Is it like how on the SLP kits they sell it has a different bracket or what? I think these look KILLER and it says it's only $293.95 and Ceramic coated, am I reading this right? Help me out guys....

New Yorker! YOU SCORED!!! Do you realize you got sent the emissions legal headers instead?? You just got a set of $500 headers for $293!

Check the part number you "ordered". Those are for ceramic coated, non-emission headers. Now, check the part number on the flange in your picture. That number "68481" is for the emission legal headers, which sell for $309.99 uncoated, add ceramic coating for another $190 bucks and YOU SCORED!!

Hey there... the pics look great... and have fun with that Y Pipe... it didn't line up that easily with mine and took a little playing with... some cursing and a hammer... and viola... its in!

Tom, I know what I got and when I ordered them, I specifically asked for the air tubes AND the coating.

Guys, I have a couple questions on these. It says "Not for use with smog injection or injection heads"

Umm you looked at the wrong hedders.. The ones that you looked at didnt have the AIR injection tubes..

"Modification is required to the rotary A/C bracket." So would I be able to use these on an '87 Z28 305 TPI with all the air fittings?

Umm there really isnt anything to mod on the AC braket that gets attached to the exhuast manifold. The reason why they say that you need to mod it is becausem the stock manifold is about a 1 1/4 or so wide and the bracket is made to fit that. Now the hedder's flange is only about a 1/4 inch thick where the AC bracket mounts too. Sooo they say that you need to mod it to make up the extra space.

And what does it mean with the A/C bracket? Is it like how on the SLP kits they sell it has a different bracket or what?

Read above

New Yorker, Those look great! Pics like these help me to be patient, save a little more cash, and get the coated headers- it definately improves appearance. I guess I didn't realize how much until I saw it. Thanks for posting those.

Not a problem!

But I will tell you that after a few drives with the car the coating does dull slightly... it still looks really good, just a slight dull to it.
