"Cat Back" simply referrs to exhaust systems that are sold to replace everything from the catalytic converter to the tail pipes. There are many, many different companies that sell these systems. Most of them are simply bolt on products, you might be suprised that you could do it yourself.

cool deal, thanks I just had a new cat installed (when I had to get ym car to pass emissions) Nothing special, just a typical cat. Would these systems come with a highflo cat? and what system do you think is the best? I hear SLP is really good, do they sound good too though?

No, they dont come with a cat. Its just the pipe from the cat, over the axle, the muffler, and tail pipe. There really isnt a "best cat-back", its all opinions and what sound you like. SLP is a good one, so is Dynomax, Flowmaster, Hooker, etc.

Kevin happened to leave out Edelbrock. Everyone leaves them out. I really would start with headers first if you plan to mod the car. Get some headers and wait. Otherwise, I'm pretty positive you will have to buy ANOTHER cat. So start with headers, and if your car has mani's, your car might not sound as good as you want it. You should hear a noticeable difference from stock exhaust to almost ANY aftermarket headers. It will allow for quicker revs and this way you only have to buy one cat. Or you would have a cat with like a 2.5" IN / 3.0" OUT, so if you ever decide for headers the Y Pipe might not fit. I got TES Headers and Edelbrock Catback and I luved da sound. When I gutted the cat it sound 10x better, but, you know you lose some torque on the side (like 7lbs/ft). Neway, my 2 cents.

With Headers you will need a new cat. A catback will bolt to anything

The best cat back system I've seen or have used is a full 3" Gale Banks Power Pack System. It's 3" from the cat back with a full flow low restriction muffer that has two 2 3/4" tailpipes coming out on the left side. Just like a SLP system. This setup works real good too. Now if you want more for just a few more bucks and don't want to go for the price of headers get one of their Y pipes that is 2 3/4" from the stock manifolds to the cat. It goes into a 3" collector and couples to the cat. Very nice setup with real good exhaust flow........
I had this stuff on my ride for 3 years til I got my SLP headers and Random Tech Cat.
