Anyone running a cutout?
Anyone running a cutout?

I'd put it before the cat, that way you get the full effect. Though if you want to try and sneak it out on the streets at times, after the cat should help some.

Well if you were looking for it to be a track use only thing then right after the headers would be perfect before the cat. If you want to run it on the street and have one very aggressive sounding exhaust then after the cat. My one is right before the right rear tire. The car sounds really mean with it and I haven't got in trouble yet with it
i've got the same thing as trans87. for a TBI, it sounds key. i dunno if i'd have it on if i had larger than a 305, tho (might attract the attention of the authorities
) ... but i've had mine for a year and a half, open always, except for winter, and never had a problem with the cops. (just dont revv it up around 'em!

I just got mine installed today and OMG it is loud as hell. I thought I might be able to drive around with it off but now I dont think so. Dont get me wrong it sounds delicious but I dont think the law will agree.
I didn't feel any performance gains as I drove it home but I guess I wont really know until I go to the track.
It is a very cheap mod so I highly reccomend it.

Yeah man, I've got a 3 inch cut out on my 91 Z28 5.7 TPI (L98), both cat's cut off, 3 inch all the way back.....dumping into an 80 series flowmaster with 3 1/2 inch tips. And wow, it's loud when it's completely off. What you might want to do is get a McCord Power Plate II........they are electronic and you can control the volume from inside your car by a flip of a switch. Right now.....I have a BORLA exhaust plate on my cut out.....so..it's not as loud....but it's tuned so you can hear the low, loud rumble of the cut out and can hear that aggressive tone of a flowmaster....and it sounds great!
thanks guys, and i am going to get an electronic cutout from Quick Time. that way i can closer er up when the po-po are in an earshot. oh, and yes i do plan on running it WIDE open on the street.

I run my Summit cut out right where the cat once was.On the street I run the Flowmaster Force II cat back which is loud enough with my motor..I save the cut out for track use only.
