I have a set of SLP 1 5/8" headers, no cat, 3" all the way, and a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. When I rev it then let up, it pops, and I hate it. any ideas on how to make it stop? I think it's just the muffler, any opinions?

That is a common problem but you usually find it with Borla exhaust. What it is, is the fact that your exhaust flows to well and when you let off the gas it sucks air back in. sence your system is not adjustable about the only things you can do are put a cat back on it or put a more restrictive muffler on it. I know I would hate to think of putting a restriction in my exhaust but you will find that the car will run better that way. A street motor needs a little back pressure to run at its best. That is why a LT1 car with Borla exhaust runs best with the next to the largest restrictor plate in instead of just being open, when they are open they breath back real bad but when the plate is in they don't. If you have a carborated car you might want to step up a couple of jet sizes or if you have a fuel injected car you might bump up the fuel pressure or step up on your injector size, this might help also.

 

I think just about every Thirdgen Camaro without cats backfires when reved up.

I think I'm going to replace the muffler anyway, it makes too much of a baffel sound that I don't like. I'd go with a Flow Master if everyone didn't already have one.

I wouldnt go with a flowmaster!! I have a 80 series muffler and 2.5" pipe, and it pops like crazy after I rev it up. I am going with a Hooker cat back in the spring. Take my word, dont buy a Flowmaster!!

My car does the same thing, it only started doing it after I put the 350, my 305 never did it and I have the same exact exaust set up. I tried putting a cat on it and it still does it. My car does not do it when you rev it only when you are decellrating while driving. I HATE IT!!!!!!!!
