What to get to make 6 loud!
i'm going to a exhaust place some time this month and gettin a coustom exhaust, what will make my 3.1 bird sound like a strong V8 for under $350, thanks?

im sorry, you will NEVER get a 3.1 V6 to sound like a V8. you can get it loud by running straight pipes. but it still wont sound like a V8. There is no Replacment for Displacment. sorry.

Everyone so nice... damn, this has to be the most helpful place. I'm sure if he/she could get a V8 he/she would. of course... I don't know the answer either... straight headers is the best way to make it loud. But loud isn't always good.

Hey...why do u guys always say buy a v8? **** who cares if its a ****in v6! Some ppl dont buy cars to race them..some buy them to make them look better and have good transportation day to day without having to worry about it starting, then the v6's last 200k+... If he wanted a v8 he would have bought one

80 series flowmaster...3 1/4 out 3" in high flow cat tips..without the tips that was all 300..with the tips the exhaust was 450...

ok...sure v8 is the way to go...but if he had a 305 you would tell him to get a 350...so shaddup!! 40 series flowmasters are louder than 80 series. they make a 40 series 3"in and dual out. dynomax??? please...dynomax is by far the quietest aftermarket exhaust made. you can just run headers without a cat and no mufflers but thats not too legal. headers and a hi flow cat will make it sound better in conjunction with the 40 series...
hey graeme's firebird....how the hell are you gonna pay 150 dollars for tips?!?!?!?!?!

I guess that it is bad to talk down to a guy who has a V6 and I am sorry for the comment above, but I have always been under the impression that if you are loud, you had better be bad@$$. There are too many ear shattering rides running around that are dog slow. It is like talking smack and not backing it up. Were I come from, there are a dime a dozen glass packed, echo tipped pick ups running around that are insanely loud and run slower than a civic. Louder does not equal faster and it can get you some heavy fines.
