the best muffler for a stock 305?

yes guys, what could be the best muffler for my stock 305? keeping in mind that everything else is stock, and a tight budget.
i would like it to sound deep grave.
as info the muffler i'm replacing is from the old V-6 system.

I'd say get a 2 chamber flowmaster. They sound pretty good on 305s.

I agree....that was my first mod. They are not too loud on the inside but you can really turn heads on the outside when you open it up.

I changed my 87 IROC from the stock ugly-*** dual tip to a dynomax single in single out 3 inch....looks bad *** and is very deep and throaty......but everyone compares them to flow master for a reason, I've just noticed that the flow master's that i have on my truck look about rusted out and my dynomax is older and in better shape.....

If you're on a budget, the dynomax "replacement" muffler #17739 at $45 is hard to beat. It's got a little better sound than stock (2.5"in dual 2.5 out)and flows more than enough for most aplications,, for sure enough flow for a stock 305 or mild 350. I've got one (practiaclly new when I bought the car),, and I'm in no hurry to replace it.

would you say that flowmaster is loudest? if it is, thats probably what ill get. i want to bolt flowmasters to headers and then run that to a single pipe out to the back. ive heard fm's on a mustang, but i dont think ive heard any of the others. loud?

I have the 80 series with 2.5 inch turndown tailpipes. It's not really that loud at all, the turndowns may have something to do with that. I have a 305 too so it may be louder on a 350. I'm getting a Hooker Aerochamber Cat-Back soon and maybe you should look into one too.

I'd stay away from Flowmaster if you care about performance. I haven't seen them do to well against some of the other brands mentioned.

Flowmaster would definitely be your best bet and it won't sound like your typical five-oh. I was impressed by my friend's LB9 with just a flowmaster and he's gotten compliments about it from everybody. You can check out the whole line at www.flowmastermufflers.com but I can tell you the direct replacement will be an 80 series. When I get the money, I'm going to get one too. Its not worth it to go overboard for headers and a full cat back system when the future might may hold a 350. You'll probably be looking at about 100 bucks for the muffler, then you'll need tips and labor unless you do it yourself. Good luck.
