or should i go with 3" cats assuming its legal...they seem to be pretty big, i dont want them dragging on the ground...basically is 2.5" enough for me, headers will go on at the same time these do, with 2.5" pipes to the cats

most headers come with 3" collectors...no reason to go down to 2.5" plus most catback systems are 3" too....i would go with 3" cats.

3" collectors, yes, but exhaust shop will not bend 3" pipe to the cats, siad 2.5" is best he can do... also after the cats, how would you join two 3" pipes into one 3" pipe?
thanks...I would rather go with 3" cats, just trying to figure out if its necessary considering the other restrictions (i.e. 2.5" pipe) and legal.

Guys, we're talking dual cat setups here, right? You dont want two 3" y-pipes into a 3" intermediate pipe! Stock its two 2.25" pipes coming out of the exhaust manifolds into two 2.25" cats, and then they join together into one 2.75" intermediate pipe. If you want to upgrade the whole thing, go with a custom 2.5" y-pipe, two 2.5" cats, into a 3" intermediate pipe, like I did.
