Just thought you would like to know

I keep seeing posts where the minimum range dollar amount for headers w/ y-pipe is $300. Well, I just recently got a new set of heddmen shorties w/ y-pipe for my 91 and they were shipped to my door for $210. What's the deal>>>did they screw up w/ my price. It was from Jegs by the way

Onetime, Jegs sent me my STB and then sent a 132.00 check in the mail to me as well. Apparently they thought that I asked for a refund. LoL. FREE STB!

Well, I asked for the ones w/ no A.I.R. injection tubes and had to weld my own O2 sensor bung in there.

the headders he speaks of are hedmann # 68470 and the matching y-pipe is # 17470 (i think). jegs and summit both have the headers for ~ $109 and the y-pipe for ~ $99. i emailed hedman's tech. dept., and they are an exact match together, the y-pipe is 2.5" dia. (stock is 2.25" on my car) they are shorties, 1 5/8" primaries, 3 " collector, and have no A.I.R. tubes. they are the headers i'm about to order. check out http://www.headman.com and look at the catalog for any addn.info.

He said it>>>>>>they're complete w/ all hardware and gaskets. The only design flaw I found was the y-pipe slip on connector location. The "turn-down" off the driver side header slip fits into the y-pipe right under the oil pan. You can't clamp it there w/o causing damage to the pan so I MIG'ed it as much as I could. About 1/2 way around. However, regardless, there are no leaks whatsover where I half assed this part. This is because it fits into the y-pipe instead of over it.

TaliNG,
Headers replace the factory exhaust manifolds that bolt to the cylinder heads. They offer increased exhaust flow which gives you some more horsepower. The "Y" pipe mates the headers to your exhaust system.

True dual exhaust on ours cars is a pretty tricky thing. Since they were never designed to have dual exhaust there isn't much room under the car for it. There are some guys on the board though that have pulled it off.

The other thing you have to consider is whether or not your car needs to pass an emissions test. If so, you need headers that have A.I.R. tubes so the factory smog equipment can be hooked up to them. With a dual exhaust system you can forget passing a smog test. No factory 3rd gen evre had it, so legally you can't put it on, and your car will fail a visual inspection. This all applies to a daily driven street car of course.

As for your stock 305, I'd stay away from headers for now. The money would be better spent on other mods. You will find a good cat-back system helpful though.
